Kathryn W. Davis Global Community

Scholars at Westchester Community College

group2

Mission Statement

Our aim is to educate current and prospective students with a film regarding the possibilities that WCC offers. We will achieve this through the representation of the adversity overcome by each member in the Kathryn W. Davis Global Community Scholars Program. We will  highlight the aspects that stand to benefit those who hope to participate in this wonderful program. Aspects such as affordable schooling, international understanding, serving the community in innovative ways, and all of the different other aspects involved with participating in this program. Our hope in the end is, that those who held reservations about a "community college" will see WCC for what it truly is, an established accredited learning institution that utilizes the best in all mediums of education.

OK. I'm still having a little trouble with this, but it is better. I took a few minutes to revise and this is what I came up with:

Our mission is to raise awareness of the opportunities that a higher education offers and encourage community members to take advantage of these opportunities at Westchester Community College. We will achieve this through the production and targeted screening of a short film that features each member of the Kathryn W. Davis Global Community Scholars Program. We will  highlight aspects such as affordable schooling, international understanding, and community  service. Our hope in the end is that those who have held reservations about the value of a community college will see WCC for what it truly is: an established accredited learning institution with a record of excellence in education.

About Mike Calvi

Hello, my name Is Michelangelo Calvi and I am a third Semester Humanities major here at Westcheater Community College. I am a waiter at Oylmpic Diner 2 in Ossining. I enjoy balancing my time between school, work, and a healthy social life. I have lived in four different states, and spent four years of my life working and riding my snowboard. I grew up in Mamaroneck N.Y. and was born in Rockville Center Hospital, Long Island. I was born on February 29th, 1984 (leap year) so I have only had six birthdays. I hope to enjoy the time spent with the rest of our group, and know with the potential within each of us we will raise the bar. I would like to thank all those who have made this possible, especially Kathryn W. Davis. Thank You M.Calvi
